Quilts de Memorium
XL-Twin Quilt for the La branche Family.
summer 2019
made with a military man in
mind using his everyday clothes; jeans,
t-shirts, flannel button-downs & pants,
knit sweaters, a camo’ jackets and a
star from a fallen american flag given
to him in honor of his service.
The center is a large star framing a t-
shirt with the dates of his military
service contained by stripes of the
various fabrics drawing reference to the
american flag. The back, not pictured, is a
warm tan flannel camo; referring to
spending his pastime hunting.
Allowing as much personality as
possible to seep into the quilt, pockets
from the original jacket are left and the
paint stained parts of the pants are
used.
Twin Quilt for the shaw Family.
summer 2019
made to honor a man who used his
hands for working and exploring;
his flannel button up work shirts,
favorite t-shirt from his grandsons
home-run, khaki pants with a button-up
knit sweater and jean over-shirt.
Stars twinkle across the quilt stuck into
the corners of the wide border like a
sought after trinket tucked away in an
antique store, large radiating coins frame
the stars symbolizing his love for
collecting and antiquity.
Pockets and left over cuttings of the
flannels layered under shirt-cuffs
with buttons are sewn into
the quilt top and are still usable.

Fall 2019
made to keep a four legged best friend
close; his towels and sheets that he
would sleep and snuggle into frame
digitally printed fabric of him grown and
as a young dog.
The fabric was cut into large squares to
reference their original purpose as a dog
bed and to complement the bold terry
cloth letters. A terry cloth tag, is sewn
into the bottom edge of the quilt and
says his name in the hand-writing of his
owner.
