Raised along the coast of Maine, where antiques store are more common than grocery stores the influence and interest of handcraft, nature and history has long been steeping in designer Emma Wood. This led her to study Fibers at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah Ga, where she graduated with a BFA in 2017.
Here she developed an interest in fibers & jewelry; and is continually looking for unexpected ways to bring them together. Her goal is to learn, explore and grasp what she can not physically see, with intentions to create an iconography or code through color, shape, texture and image; research, learning and uncovering is a driving part of her metamorphic creative process.
While developing her studio practice in Maine in the fall of 2018 she a was color & fabric consultant at a local Quilt shop; deepening her understanding of color story in correlation to developing a narrative through shape and texture.
Now based out the Queen City (Charlotte N.C.) Emma creates and offers Quilt Patterns for purchase, Sui Genesis Quilts and Personalized Quilting Fabrics.
